Dangers of Plywood you should know about:

  • UNTREATED PLYWOOD
  1. Mold - Good mold, no problem, just smells bad.
  2. Mold - Bad mold is a major health hazard to you, your family, friends and neighbors.
  3. Warping - You will never be able to use your plywood to cover your windows next time. Believe me, from experience you will end up throwing all that plywood out.
  4. Termites - An engraved invitation to get them to come to your location.
  5. Mildew - Smells and looks terrible.

Net result - If you are not going to treat the plywood properly and timely throw it out NOW. Save yourself all the health problems, termite infestation and cleaning.

  • POST-PLYWOOD PREP

After you pull the boards off the windows, but before you store that plywood, protect your investment.  The time and effort you took to measure and saw the plywood and then drill holes in the right places could be in vain.

Not staining or painting the plywood, the wood will absorb the moisture and humidity.  From there, they will warp, bow, and no longer align with the holes you drilled into your home.  Plus, untreated wood is always an attraction for termites.
